New AHU technology in the automotive industry

Manufacturers worldwide face rising pressure to meet the UN 2030 climate goals. The automotive industry, with its complex and energy-intensive production lines, is among the most affected. Here, efficient HVAC systems play a decisive role. As requirements tighten, demands grow for sustainable, high-performance technologies that reduce energy use and environmental impact.

Sporty dynamics meet cutting-edge fan and AHU technologies

A world-famous German sports car manufacturer is already ahead of the 2030 climate targets. Known for iconic performance cars, the company has upgraded the air-conditioning systems in its paint-spray lines with state-of-the-art AHU solutions built around highly efficient NOVENCO® ZerAx® fans.

The modern paint-spray lines now run with the market’s most economical and durable AHU technology. ZerAx axial fans mirror the aerodynamics of the manufacturer’s sports cars, ensuring smooth, undisturbed airflow. Unlike centrifugal fans, which lose dynamic pressure by design, the ZerAx keeps both static and dynamic pressures. The result is clear with significant energy savings and superior performance.

Sustainability is a core priority for the manufacturer, and the ZerAx fans exceed the EU eco-design requirements in directive 2009/125/EC. Compared to centrifugal fan solutions, AHUs with ZerAx fans reduce investment costs, save materials, require less space and offer lower noise levels for improved comfort.

The ZerAx fan – a game changer with 92% fan efficiency

The ZerAx axial fans deliver best-in-class efficiency far above today’s legislative requirements. Their sustainable design, low energy use and high reusability make them ideal for future regulations.

In this installation, the 92% fan efficiency retains almost all aerodynamic energy and contributes to an impressive 81% system efficiency. NOVENCO engineers optimise AHU length through smart dual-function design where the diffusers also work as silencers, converting airflow velocity into static pressure and lowering sound levels.
