Architecture equal masterpiece
When the BMW Group set out to build a new brand-experience and car-delivery centre next to its headquarters and the BMW Museum in Munich, Germany, the ambition was clear. An open international competition attracted 275 architects, and after a multi-stage selection, COOP HIMMELB(L)AU won with a visionary design.
BMW Welt stands as a true architectural landmark. Its striking roof structure and the iconic Double Cone form the visual signature of the building. Inside, the architecture creates a refined environment where BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars are presented with precision.
The building offers car and motorcycle galleries, two retail shops including the 650 m² BMW Lifestyle & Accessories store, the 60 m² BMW Welt Shop, several dining areas with 450 seats, an event forum for 700 guests and direct connection to the BMW Museum. Each year, BMW Welt welcomes around two million visitors.
Under the museum
NOVENCO Building & Industry was selected for the system design, equipment delivery, commissioning and system approval of the BMW Museum visitor car park. Located beneath the museum, the car park is equipped with high-quality NOVENCO axial flow fans and jet fans, tested and approved for CO-ventilation and smoke exhaust in case of fire.
Equipment delivery
To ensure efficient and reliable ventilation of the underground car park, NOVENCO Building & Industry supplied 42 non-reversible jet fans AUO-380 and 8 reversible jet fans ARO-380.
For fresh air supply and exhaust, six NOVENCO NovAxTM ACN-1250 axial flow fans with capacities up to 120,000 m3/h were delivered.
BMW’s in-house contractors carried out the mechanical and electrical installation. NOVENCO Building & Industry provided the initial system design and supported commissioning and notified-body approval.
