New office concept
Mercedes-Benz has opened a modern office building in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands. The building follows Daimler’s MeWe Space concept, where creativity and functionality combine in a flexible workplace. A two-floor atrium forms the centre of the building, featuring a full glass roof, vertical garden walls, glass towers for meetings and open spaces designed to inspire collaboration.
The new offices bring together all divisions under one roof, including passenger cars, vans, trucks, financial services and support functions. To match the high standards of the renovation and comply with Dutch fire ventilation regulations, Mercedes-Benz selected NOVENCO car park ventilation systems for the underground facilities.
NOVENCO Building & Industry received the contract from HOMIJ Technische Installaties for the redesign of the two-level car park ventilation system, component supply, installation and certification according to BRL-K21025. The agreement also required independent inspection and approval of the firefighting system by Kiwa, an accredited global testing and certification organisation.
Reliable technology
Car park ventilation is one of NOVENCO’s core areas of expertise. NOVENCO introduced the jet fan technology to the market in the 1990s and set new standards for efficiency and safety. Today, the jet fans are essential for removing vehicle exhaust gases and supporting firefighting operations.
Energy consumption remains low in all operating modes, whether for comfort ventilation or rapid smoke extraction during fires. The solutions offer true two-in-one design as they safeguard people and assets while also reducing the environmental impact.
Highest safety installation
The installed system comprises 18 jet fans type AUO 290, one axial flow fan type ACN 1000 for air supply and two extract shafts equipped with two axial flow fans type ACN 1000. Together, they ensure safe and efficient removal of polluted air from the car park.
The complete system is certified according to the Dutch BRL-K21025 scheme for smoke control systems. This certification sets the national quality requirements for smoke and heat exhaust systems and overpressure systems, including those for stairwells.
With this solution, NOVENCO Building & Industry delivers the highest level of smoke and toxic gas ventilation performance for the Mercedes-Benz facility.
