NOVENCO® smoke control fans successfully tested to EN 12101-6:2022 standards

We are proud to announce that NOVENCO smoke control fans have successfully passed the demanding test programme defined in EN 12101-6:2022, Annex C. The tests included operation with frequency converters and variable-speed performance at temperatures up to 300°C.

Comprehensive testing process

Before the high-temperature sequence, the fans completed extensive functionality and durability testing at an independent facility. This included more than 10,000 operating cycles and oscillation testing to verify the performance of the entire kit configuration.

Detailed testing phases

Warm-up period

The fan operated for at least one hour at ambient temperature. Acceleration and deceleration between set frequencies were completed within three seconds, followed by a six-minute hold at each frequency.

High-temperature test

After warm-up, the inlet gas temperature increased to 300°C within 5–10 minutes. During the first 30 minutes, the fan frequency changed every nine seconds within the control range, with each adjustment completed within three seconds. For the next 30 minutes, frequency changes between minimum and maximum setpoints occurred every five minutes. After one hour, the full cycle was repeated.

The fan completed two hours of uninterrupted operation under these conditions before shutdown, marking the successful end of the test.

Declaration of performance

The results from these tests, together with the PDS kit tests performed according to EN 12101-6:2022, are included in a Declaration of Performance that documents the proven reliability and efficiency of NOVENCO smoke control fans.
