Our commitment
At NOVENCO Building & Industry, sustainability is not a trend — it is a commitment embedded in every aspect of our business. From our headquarters in Denmark, we design and manufacture ventilation systems that meet the highest global standards for energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, and long-term performance.
Our mission is to support the global transition to greener buildings and industries by delivering solutions that reduce energy consumption, minimise emissions, and promote circularity.
These goals guide our work and reflect the same climate ambitions set by the Paris Agreement. To turn ambition into action, NOVENCO has committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050 under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Our SBTi pathway ensures that our decarbonisation follows the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C trajectory and strengthens our contribution to the SDGs by reducing emissions across our operations, value chain, and product portfolio.
This long-term commitment is anchored in a clear roadmap focused on renewable energy integration, lifecycle emissions reduction, and sustainable product design.
Key Milestones
Operations
Energy efficiency claims must be proven in operation. NOVENCO documents performance across thousands of installations.
ZerAx fans deliver about 20% higher efficiency than conventional technology. This reduces energy use and cuts CO2e emissions in applications such as, commercial buildings and industrial sites.
Current monthly performance shows immediate value. Installed ZerAx systems eliminate 30.800 tCO2eq and avoid the equivalent of 71,200 barrels of oil. This corresponds to 6,200 car journeys around the equator.
Long-term performance highlights significant impact since 2009, ZerAx installations have reduced emissions by 578,100 tCO2e and saved equal to 1,338,300 barrels of oil, with transportation impact equating to 116,600 equatorial rounds.
These metrics support organisations working toward Scope 2 reductions. Documented results strengthen sustainability reporting without compromising compliance for ventilation, smoke control and air handling.
Cumulative environmental impact since 2009
NOVENCO Building & Industry sets a high standard for quality and environmental responsibility. Our processes are certified to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, ensuring controlled processes and consistent performance across all fan products.
Our solutions support the most recognised green building certifications, including LEED, BREEAM, DGNB, and the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC).
By integrating principles from UN Sustainable Development Goal 9 and the global push for resilient infrastructure, innovation and sustainable industrialization, our technologies help projects reduce emissions, lower energy demand, and document real climate impact.
In collaboration with consultants such as Ramboll, we provide clear, compliant documentation that makes it straightforward for construction projects to meet certification requirements and demonstrate genuine sustainability.
NOVENCO is also a proud member of SYNERGI, a Danish alliance promoting energy-efficient solutions in energy-intensive sectors such as data centres, hospitals, and commercial buildings.
With NOVENCO, you don’t just get energy-efficient, reliable fans — you get products that strengthen your project’s sustainable profile and directly support climate-focused urban development.
Product Development
At NOVENCO, product development is guided by both environmental responsibility and smart engineering. We prioritise the use of low-carbon and responsible sourced raw materials, and all production scrap is recycled through certified partners.
Modular and eco-design principles ensure high recyclability, allowing nearly all materials to re-enter the circular economy.
Energy efficiency is central to our design philosophy. As the green transition drives rising electricity demand, deploying products that minimise energy use is increasingly important.
Through clever engineering, our axial flow fans deliver superior performance while significantly reducing energy consumption in HVAC systems. In demanding applications such as data centres, they provide substantial operational savings and support a more responsible use of energy.
Advanced digital technologies further enhance product performance and extend operational lifespans. Through Big Data analytics, make systems able to monitor real-time usage and adapt to changing conditions, enable predictive maintenance and recalibration of load assumptions, all through the external external frequency drive.
This approach extends fan lifespans significantly while reducing energy and resource consumption and lowering total cost of ownership for building operators.
At NOVENCO Building & Industry, decarbonisation begins in our own production facilities. Our production facilities in Denmark are models of energy efficient and environmentally responsible manufacturing. We meet environmental regulations through energy-saving initiatives, advanced waste sorting, and eco-conscious logistics.
Modern production methods, including flowlines, to optimise energy use, minimise waste, are implemented to increase overall efficiency.
Our new facilities are DGNB Gold certified and honored with DGNB heart, ensuring that the entire building operates at high energy efficiency, which directly reduces operational emissions and positively impacts the lifecycle carbon footprint of our products.
We have a continued focus on reducing Scope 2 emissions through increased use of renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies.
Circular Economy & Recyclability
NOVENCO is a global pioneer in circular economy practices within the ventilation industry. We were the first fan manufacturer in the world to publish Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for axial flow fans, including our ZerAx® and NovAx™ series, providing full transparency on environmental impact throughout the lifecycle. These two EPDs have also formed a key part of the data foundation for developing our internal EPD configurator
Our fans are designed for disassembly, enabling efficient recycling of key components such as motors, blades, and casings. Independent analysis by Stena Recycling has confirmed a 98% recyclability rate for ZerAx® fans, demonstrating our commitment to reducing material waste, promoting reuse, and closing the loop on resource consumption.
A key part of this circular approach is retrofit. Thanks to the modular design of our fans, components can be replaced, upgraded, or added without altering the entire installation. This extends product lifetime, improves energy efficiency, and allows older systems to meet today’s performance and climate requirements without full replacement. In many retrofit projects, the modular integration also reduces the amount of cabling required. This lowers the demand for copper, a material that carries a significant environmental burden. Copper is extracted through mining processes with high energy use, large volumes of waste rock, and substantial impacts on local ecosystems. It also requires considerable amounts of processing water. Using less copper therefore reduces pressure on new resource extraction and lowers the overall CO₂ intensity of the value chain.
We maintain a strong focus on a transparent and responsible value chain. Through scrap reduction, optimised waste sorting, and active supplier engagement, we continuously improve material efficiency and minimise landfill contributions. Our Eco Design principles ensure that every product is developed with sustainability in mind — from raw material selection to end-of-life recycling.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions Overview
NOVENCO’s commitment to climate responsibility is reflected in its transparent and comprehensive greenhouse gas accounting. The company tracks and reports emissions across all three scopes in alignment with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
As expected for a manufacturing company with a global supply chain, Scope 3 remains the largest contributor. NOVENCO is actively reducing emissions across all scopes through supplier engagement, material efficiency, and continuous optimisation of processes.
To strengthen its climate transparency further, NOVENCO is now expanding its reporting to include avoided emissions — sometimes referred to as “Scope 4.”
While avoided emissions are not an official GHG Protocol category, they are recognised within the framework as a valuable supplemental metric that highlights how products can prevent or reduce emissions in their use phase.
For NOVENCO, this means documenting the CO₂e savings achieved when high-efficiency fan technologies replace less efficient systems or when retrofit solutions extend product lifetime and eliminate unnecessary manufacturing emissions.
This expanded reporting clarifies the climate value of NOVENCO’s technologies and demonstrates how energy-efficient ventilation contributes to real, measurable emissions avoidance across the built environment.
This data reinforces NOVENCO’s trajectory toward its Net Zero 2050 goal, as validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
