Novenco ZerAx AHU fan
Our most efficient AHU system solutions set a new industry benchmark with total system efficiencies up to 85%. This is achieved through the NOVENCO ZerAx® concept, designed to raise HVAC efficiency to its highest possible level. This combines the NOVENCO ZerAx® high-efficiency axial fans with IE4 and IE5 permanent magnet motors and frequency drives.
Motor and frequency drive efficiencies both exceed 95%. Together with a ZerAx fan efficiency of up to 92%, the total system reaches up to an impressive 85% efficiency. This exceeds direct-driven centrifugal plug fans with EC motors up to 15 percentage points and represents the highest total system efficiency for AHUs on the market.
Because of the high efficiencies, AHUs can be designed up to 30% shorter and 30% lighter while maintaining full performance. This reduces capital expenditure. ZerAx fans are supplied as complete plug-and-play solutions for fast installation. Noise levels are significantly lower than comparable alternatives, and fan lifetimes exceed 20 years for long-term sustainability and minimal maintenance.
HVAC systems that rely only on static pressure cannot typically achieve total efficiencies above 90%, as dynamic pressure is lost. To reach maximum efficiency, fans must utilise both static and dynamic pressures. The result is higher efficiency, lower energy consumption, reduced operating costs and lower carbon emissions.
Plug and centrifugal fans calculate efficiency only from static pressure because they cannot recover dynamic pressure, which disappears as loss. Axial fans, however, utilise both static and dynamic pressure, allowing efficiency calculations based on total pressure. Efficiencies above 90% become achievable with reduced energy waste.
Although plug and centrifugal fans may seem simpler and more flexible, they quickly become costlier in operation and environmental impact. High-efficiency axial fans consume far less energy and significantly reduce emissions. Efficiency therefore becomes the key parameter when selecting a fan solution.
ZerAx and ground-breaking efficiencies
Most centrifugal fans reach efficiencies of 65–70%. Traditional axial fans typically reach up to 80%. The difference lies in airflow direction. Axial fans move air parallel to the fan axis, while centrifugal fans push air perpendicular to the axis, losing much of the velocity energy.
Axial fans maintain minimal losses thanks to aerodynamic designs that allow straight airflow with almost no turbulence. This fundamental design difference results in higher efficiency.
The NOVENCO ZerAx axial fans reach unmatched fan efficiencies up to 92%. These values set new standards in fan engineering, reduce overall power consumption and lower noise levels. ZerAx axial fans are among the most energy-efficient solutions available today.
